Indian Lake Elementary

The Ernst Group, LLC gave Teacher Appreciation breakfasts and built custom bookcases for a Kindergarten class in need. Their partnership coordinator Carol Ernst worked to meet ALL the needs turned in by teachers in their Needs Assessment Survey.

Employees from Network Solutions Group, LLC have spent many hours on partnership activities at Indian Lake. They have donated their time to work on classroom computers and the school's technology, which included the imaging and roll-out of 120 new classroom desktops and 1 new school server and upgrading the desktops for classrooms of 1st, 4th, and 5th graders so they could support new Smart Boards. Mike Finlin of NSG coordinated a new Technology Committee for the school.

During the summer of 2006 they did all the landscaping so the school would look beautiful for the students on the 1st day; they organized a Poinsettia sale in December 2005 and flower bulb sale in the spring of 2006; they donated a Dell computer for the auction at the Family Fun Festival and worked the concession stand at the Festival in 2006.

Brian Cook with Capital Financial Group
teaches 5th graders financial education. He visits each 5th grade class every other week and teaches them to build their own investment portfolio. Once their portfolio is built the classes race to see whose will grow the most while Brian teaches them all about the market, including terms like Bull Market and Bear Market. Brian just finished his 4th year working with Indian Lake 5th graders. The program has gone so well, COMPASS packaged the curriculum as the Stocks At School program. Several other elementary schools have financial experts working with their 5th graders.
