Multi-School Partners
Cornerstone Financial Credit Union is a Partner to all Sumner County Schools. To kick off the 2006-2007 school year, they took jars of candy to Principals and office staff at Jack Anderson, Merrol Hyde Magnet, Benny Bills, Gene Brown, Oakmont, Vena Stuart, Whitten, Station Camp, and Knox Doss. On teacher in-service days, they took candy, juice, and goodies to Merrol Hyde Magnet, Walton Ferry, Portland High, and Jack Anderson. The credit union fed teachers at the middle school workshop, New Teacher Orientation, and Sumner County Association training lunch. They also took birthday cake to the teachers at Beech High.

Employees worked in the Reality Stores across the county--at Hawkins, Rucker Stewart, Ellis, Knox Doss, Shafer, and Portland Middle and handed out "Guide to Money" books to students at many of these schools. They've made presentations to 300 students at Hunter Middle and 78 students at Hendersonville High.

Their monetary donations include ones made to Hendersonville High Golden Girls and wrestling team, Station Camp High football and golf teams, and Beech High cheerleading squad.

And to finish off a great school year they provided and served refreshments at an in-service day at Hawkins Middle and donated door prizes for the retiring teachers banquet.

The Black-eyed Pea donated over $27,000 in free meal coupons to Hendersonville elementary schools during the 2006-2007 school year. The coupons were given to Kindergarten graduates and other Star Students throughout the year. The Pea also donated food for various sports banquets and often allows school clubs to use the restaurant for fundriasing nights.

Dr. Bill Taylor, Dentistry for Kids & Teens offers a dental scholarship to 1 student from each of our 10 Hendersonville area elementary schools. The students chosen receive free dental work from Dr. Taylor for the school year.

David Black with Aegis Labs is planning to speak at every Sumner County middle school this year on the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse. David spoke to the students at Ellis Middle as part of Ellis' partnership with Bluegrass Beverages, and the response for students was overwhelmingly positive, which is why he is offering the program to every middle school.

Huntington Learning Center facilitated a book drive and gathered over 900 books! The books were donated to libraries and classrooms in 20 of our schools. Now Huntington is sponsoring the Noah's Promise kickoff conference to be held on October 4th at the Gallatin Civic Center. The program, which offers students alternatives to spending their weekends around drugs or alcohol, is implemented in all 7 of our high schools.

Volunteer State Community College is a Partner to all 42 of our Sumner County Public Schools. They offer programs year round to enhance the education of all students.
